Presque Caves

Discovered in 1825 and open to the general public as from 1922, the Presque Caves are located 5 km from the village of Saint-Céré (in the département of the Lot) and 22 km from Rocamadour. The guided tour lasts 45 minutes.

During the fascinating tour you will discover an uninterrupted series of concretions in multiple shapes and colours. The tour will take you to a depth of 90 metres underground in a mineral rock setting, where nature's work began 80 million years ago. In addition to its concretions, the Presque Caves boast many stalagmites measuring 8 to 10 metres high, some of which are extremly thin and delicate including one known as the Candles (Cierges). Certain caves may offer a more awe-inspiring spectacle thanks to their size, but needless to say the Presque Caves offer visitors a rare insight into a precious and evocative aspect of our underground world.
